‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Reaction: Here’s What We Think of Marvel’s Latest Installment (Video)
The embargo on reviews for “Thor: Ragnarok” has lifted, and TheWrap’s Umberto Gonzalez and Beatrice Verhoeven are here to give you their thoughts on Marvel’s latest.
In early reviews, the film starring Chris Hemsworth, Cate Blanchett, Tom Hiddleston and Mark Ruffalo had won people over. And TheWrap’s film reporters agree with the accolades.
According to Gonzalez and Verhoeven, the film should be lauded for its portrayal of women, as well as main characters, Thor and Loki. Even Hulk is hilarious in the film, and the character and plot arcs work in the third installment of the “Thor” franchise.

“Ragnarok” finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer, and in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok — the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization — at the hands of Blanchett’s ruthless Hela. Who is a bada– first female supervillain, just so you know.
New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi added his personal touch to the “Thor” franchise with this film, and made it fun, entertaining — and the visual effects are never too much.
It’s not clear how Marvel does it — but every time a new MCU film comes out, it’s better than the last. And “Thor: Ragnarok” follows that trend.
