MSNBC’s “Morning Joe’ co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski bashed President Trump on Monday, calling his recent tweets a “low, low moment for Washington.” “We are in a crisis,” Scarborough declared.
On Saturday, Trump tweeted unsubstantiated claims that Barack Obama had illegally wiretapped Trump Tower before last fall’s election. The White House has called on Congress to “determine whether executive branch investigative powers were abused in 2016.”
Brzezinski said the claims by Trump leaves only two possibilities.
“Either one commander in chief falsely accused another of one of the most scandalous acts in political history, or President Obama actually did authorize tapping the calls of this most loathed political rival,” she said. “I am losing hope.”
Scarborough added, “What Donald Trump did on Saturday morning has shaken this government and the confidence of its people to the core. It is hard to overstate how reckless that tweet was.”
Scarborough called the remarks “dangerous,” saying there is a “full fledged war” between various members of government as a result.
The “Morning Joe” namesake said that Trump will never be able to prove his claims.
“This White House is a joke,” Brzezinski added. “I don’t know how anyone can defend this president.”
