Netflix tweeted out the first trailer for Death Note, and to say it looks intense would be a drastic understatement. The American film adaptation of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata’s Japanese manga series follows high school student Light Turner (Nat Wolff), who stumbles upon a mysterious, sinister notebook that kills anyone whose name is written inside it. Director Adam Wingard, whose past works include You’re Next and the Blair Witch sequel, is no stranger to horrifying stories and revealed it’s going to be his “most insane movie yet” during a Reddit AMA. The movie premieres on Aug. 25 and also stars Lakeith Stanfield, Margaret Qualley, and Willem Dafoe.
