Stephen Colbert Breaks Own Rule of Not Talking About Bill O’Reilly (Video)

Stephen Colbert spent the lion’s share of “The Colbert Report” mocking Bill O’Reilly. He doesn’t do that anymore on his new late-night talker, by design.

“Bill comes on the show, we have a good time when he’s on here, we have nice conversations,” the CBS “Late Show” host started his Wednesday monologue. “I talked about him for like 10 years, and I think that’s enough.”

Colbert went on: “But I do talk about Donald Trump. And today, the two worlds collided, when Donald Trump stuck his — let’s say finger — into O’Reilly’s sticky situation.”

Colbert was referring to a New York Times investigation that found evidence of O’Reilly and his Fox News Channel spending $13 million to settle sexual harassment lawsuits against the polarizing conservative personality.

“The $13 million may just be the tip of the iceberg,” Colbert said in his set up, finishing: “Though the tip may be the most sensitive part of the iceberg.”

For some weird reason, President Trump felt compelled to defend Bill O’Reilly’s character to the Times in the wake of its revelation, calling his cable news pal a “good person,” adding, “I don’t think Bill did anything wrong.”

“Mr. President: I want to remind you — you just declared April ‘Sexual Assault Awareness Month,’” Colbert responded. “And there are two accusations of sexual assault I’m aware of: Bill O’Reilly‘s, and yours.”

“So, maybe you’re not the perfect person to weigh in on this one,” he concluded on the matter, before switching his focus to Ivanka Trump, and ultimately, that Kendall Jenner Pepsi ad.
