‘SNL': Character Actor Sam Rockwell Pays Tribute to Character Actor Stanley Tucci (Video)

Sam Rockwell’s turn as host on “SNL” featured a tribute to another prolific character actor: Stanley Tucci.
Though Rockwell hosted “SNL,” he acknowledged in his monologue in the beginning that he’s spent his 30-year acting career as a character actor. Rockwell recently won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture, though, and in his monologue he wondered if that might finally rocket him into the role of leading man.
Together with “SNL” cast member Pete Davidson, Rockwell did a tribute to character actor Stanley Tucci, in the form of a rap song music video. Davidson rapped about the “Tucci Gang” of fans of the “Hunger Games” and “Devil Wears Prada” actor, while Rockwell wore a bald cap and danced as the sketch’s Tucci.

The rap song was a parody of rapper Lil Pump’s song “Gucci Gang.” It included lyrics that described Tucci’s accomplishments, like publishing a cook book, and the movies he’s been. “Some of you don’t know the know, that’s that guy from ‘The Hunger Games,’ ‘Transformer: The Last Knight,’ ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and ‘Spotlight,’” Davidson rapped while Rockwell danced.
“I got mad respect for his range, he should’ve Dr. Strange/ ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ was sick! If you don’t like Stan, you’re a dick,” the song continued.
Davidson also noted that Tucci has appeared in two movies with Meryl Streep and that he’s a restaurateur, while Rockwell rode the CGI tiger from Lil Pump’s video.

Rockwell took home the award for Best Supporting Actor at the 2018 Golden Globes for his work in “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” but he wasn’t the only one. The movie also received three other awards: Best Actress in a Motion Picture for Frances McDormand, Best Screenplay of a Motion Picture for Writer/Director Martin McDonagh, and Best Motion Picture Drama.
