‘SNL': Aidy Bryant Channels Cardi B’s Assertiveness to Try to Become Her Best Friend (Video)

Cardi B’s appearance as musical guest on “SNL” this week inspired Aidy Bryant to become more self-confident and empowered, much to the chagrin of the rest of the cast.
The sketch started with Bryant remarking about how confident the rapper is, and how she just speaks her mind. The meek Bryant believes she could take a page from Cardi’s playbook and be more assertive in her life.

That immediately manifests as her conversation with Cecily Strong and Kate McKinnon is interrupted by Beck Bennett and Kyle Mooney, who sarcastically ask if they’re encroaching on the women’s “girl time.”
“Why don’t you shut your ho’ ass up,” Bryant responds to Mooney. “I’m sick of you hatin’ ass hos always got somethin’ slick to say. Just remember I’m a boss and you’re a worker, you goofy bitch.”
Bryant adds, “I’m from the Bronx, and we don’t play that” before leaving — just like Cardi B. When Mooney asks if Bryant is actually from the Bronx, Bennett notes that she’s actually from North Central Phoenix.

Meeting host Chadwick Boseman, Aidy’s nervousness turned aggressive, as she yelled, “I’m not afraid of you, bitch!”
Bryant’s newfound assertiveness becomes a problem for the rest of the cast, as she continues channeling Cardi. When asked to do a shout-out to fans on social media, Bryant switches to Cardi mode on a dime.
“Stop asking me about the show,” she says, recording the video. “The cast sucks, the writers are stupid, I f—ed them all, they were boring. So live from the Bronx, y’all can shut the f— up.”

“And then I just hit send?” she asks the stunned crew member.
The sketch ends with Bryant finally meeting Cardi B, and suggesting the pair could be best friends: Aidy B and Cardi B, she says. Bryant tries to pitch Cardi on a few songs — including one about preferring pizza over submarine sandwiches. Bryant’s obsession even starts to freak out Cardi.
