James Corden Offers Heartfelt Tribute to London Following Terror Attack (Video)

In the wake of Wednesday’s terrorist attack in London, many celebrities spoke out showing support, including London native and late night host James Corden.

On “The Late Late Show,” Corden took the time to address the attack and his feelings about being so far from home.

“There was a terror attack today in my hometown, the city of London in Westminster. While we’re filming this, it’s still unknown what the motives were,” Corden said on Wednesday night. “What we do know at this point is that people have lost their lives and many, many more have been injured. I know a lot of people in Britain watch this show — there’s a lot of people from Britain who work on this show — and of course, our thoughts go out to everyone who’s been affected by this.”

The suspected terrorist plowed a car into pedestrians on the Westminster Bridge and crashed it outside Parliament. He fatally stabbed a police officer before being shot. At least four are dead, including the suspect, and over 20 were injured.

Corden, who now lives in Los Angeles, said that he felt a distinct distance from his home in London

“It’s funny. When something like that happens in your hometown, you don’t have a feeling of being glad that you’re so far away. What you feel is that you wish you could be there with loved ones to stand alongside them,” he said.

But he ended on a message of hope.

“London is a diverse and proud and brilliant city, and one thing is for sure: If this act of terrorism was supposed to divide the people of London, I know for a fact that all something like this does is bring them closer together as one.”
