Hivemind announced Thursday that it has acquired the rights to “Gideon Falls,” an Image Comics horror title that will be made into an hour-long TV series.
Written by Jeff Lemire & Andrea Sorrentino — who recently worked on DC’s “Green Arrow” and Marvel’s “Old Man Logan” relaunches — “Gideon Falls” follows three strangers in the titular small town: a washed-up Catholic priest, a determined female sheriff, and a conspiracy-obsessed recluse. Though the three have nothing in common, they are brought together as they discover that a forgotten local legend may have more truth than it first appears.
Created earlier this year, the genre-oriented Hivemind’s other titles include Amazon’s “The Expanse” as well as upcoming titles like Netflix’s adaptation of the video game “The Witcher” and the feature film adaptation of the classic children’s horror series “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.”
In tandem with the rights pickup, Hivemind also announced that one of the company’s co-founders, Dinesh Shamdasani, will be joining the company full-time as co-president. Shamdasani co-founded Hivemind with former Universal Studios president Sean Daniel, his longtime producing partner Jason Brown, and former Bad Robot television head Kathy Lingg.
Shamdasani is also serving as a producer on the upcoming adaptation of “Bloodshot,” which stars Vin Diesel and, as TheWrap reported exclusively, Toby Kebbell. Production on the film starts next month.
