Greta Gerwig on How Irish Actress Saoirse Ronan Nailed Playing ‘Lady Bird’ Johnson (Video)
embed: “Lady Bird” writer-director Greta Gerwig couldn’t stop gushing about the performance of her star, Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, playing the Texas teenager who would grow up to be Lady Bird Johnson.
Not only did she nail the accent, but Gerwig praised Ronan for elevating the humor in the script.
“She didn’t play the comedy, she played the honesty,” Gerwig told TheWrap editor-in-chief Sharon Waxman in a video interview at the Toronto Film Festival, while joined by co-stars Laurie Metcalf and Tracy Letts.
