‘First Wives Club’ Adaptation Gets Series Order at Paramount Network (Video)

Paramount Network has given a series order to an adaptation of “First Wives Club” from “Girls Trip” writer Tracy Oliver.
An adaptation of the 1996 film starring Diane Keaton, Bette Midler and Goldie Hawn, the 10-episode comedy will follow a group of women who band together after their marriages fall apart, and who find strength in their sisterhood — and, of course, a little revenge.
Oliver will write and executive produce the Paramount Television-produced series, which is slated to premiere in 2019.

Karen Rosenfelt, original film producer Scott Rudin, and Tony Hernandez of JAX Media will also serve as executive producers on the series.
“Tracy Oliver is a brilliant writer and the perfect visionary to bring this unforgettable story from the big screen to the small screen in a fresh and contemporary way,” said Paramount Network production and development boss Keith Cox.
“‘Girls Trip’ was one of the funniest comedies in recent memory and we know Tracy will breathe new life, and some serious laughs, into these beloved ‘First Wives Club’ characters,” said Paramount TV president Amy Powell.
A previous attempt to adapt “First Wives Club” for the small screen, with Alyson Hannigan and Megan Hilty attached to star, was launched at Paramount’s sister network TV Land in 2016, but did not make it past the pilot stage.
