Chance the Rapper Kicks Off ‘SNL’ With Song About Spending Thanksgiving With All Your Terrible Relatives (Video)
Chance the Rapper began his “SNL” hosting duties by saying in his monologue that to celebrate Thanksgiving he had pledged to give a million dollars to Chicago public schools. Unfortunately, Chance said, his accountant told him he doesn’t have the money and so he needs to make a quick cash grab in the form of what he hopes will be the definitive song about Thanksgiving. Which you can check out in full above.
“You can make some serious cash off a holiday hit. Mariah Carey is at that tree lighting every year singing ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ and it’s not because she loves giant trees — it’s because she loves having a third assistant whose only job is to yell at her second assistant,” Chance said as he introduced the song. “I want my song to honor what’s truly special about this holiday: how it’s the one time a year you invite all your relatives to dinner, even the ones you can’t stand.”
After going down the list of weird annoying relatives with cast members Cecily Strong and Kate Mckinnon as his backup singers, Chance finally came to the one group that you’re just not gonna get along with at Thanksgiving.

“It’s Thanksgiving time/ where we’re all on one side/ except for the turkeys/ who are all gonna die,” Chance sang as several live turkeys wearing church choir garb stood nearby.
